  The Department of Electronic Engineering was established in August 1973. At present the Department offers both undergraduate and graduate programs. Its mission is to educate students in order that they should acquire professional skills, be mindful of engineering ethics, and develop a strong appreciation for culture in general. To achieve this, its principal aim, the Department gives equal emphasis to both theoretical studies and practical training. It offers an abundance of theoretical and practical courses in accordance with the science and technology development policies of the country and the requirements of international high-tech industries.

Faculty, Facilities and Courses

  The Department has twenty-eight outstanding academic staff including seven professors, thirteen associate professors, seven assistant professors and one lecturer. It has fully-equipped labs for teaching and research. These are the SoC IC Design Lab, the VLSI Design Lab, the VLSI Testing Lab, the Electronic Components and Materials Analysis Lab, the Network Systems Development Lab, the Communications Lab, the High-Frequency Communication Lab, the Computer Hardware Development Lab, the Computer Systems Development Lab, the Measurement and Calibration Lab, and the Electronic Circuits Lab.

  The Department has developed three undergraduate programs, which are the Microelectronic Engineering, Communications Engineering and Information Engineering Programs to provide students a multi-disciplinary education in their specialties. For a well-rounded education, every student can select, according to his or her own interests, content-rich courses as electives that are available within each of the three Programs.

The programs that the Department provides are as follows:

1. Microelectronic Engineering Program: Digital Integrated Circuit Design and FPGA Realization, Communication IC Design, System on Chip (SoC) IC Design, PLD Circuit Planning and Design, and Semiconductor and Integrated Circuit Measurements.

2. Communications Engineering Program: Wireless Communications, Digital Communications, Spread Spectrum Communications, Digital Signal Processing, High-Frequency Circuit Design, High-Frequency Signal Measurement, and Multi-Media Applications.

3. Information Engineering Program: Computer Systems, Micro-controller Design and Applications, Video and Audio Signal Processing, Computer Networks, Information Appliance, Embedded Real-Time Operating Systems, Automatic Instrument Measurements, and Computerized Instrument Design.


  Members of the Department’s faculty make great contributions in the form of excellent academic papers and research projects. In accordance with their respective areas of research, the Department has organized six Research Groups-Research Groups for Power IC, Mixed Signal IC Design, Multi-Media Communication Systems, Remote Sensing Image Processing, Artificial Intelligence, and Communication Signal Processing.

Development Trends and Careers

  In an ear in which the microelectronic, communications, and information industries are growing fast, graduates of this Department must meet the requirements of international electronic and other high-tech industries. It is hoped that graduates will have great opportunities either to work at the domestic facilities of high-tech companies or to devote them selves to academic research in more specialized fields in electronics and other advanced technologies. It goes without saying that these professionals are essential for keeping the nation’s industry competitive. This Department continues to enhance the educational and research environment in Microelectronic Engineering, Communications Engineering, and Information Engineering.
