The next wave of tech innovation is set against a backdrop of unprecedented disruption. Digital machines foster autonomy, artificial intelligence, and people analytics. Material machines change the fundamental characteristics of fabrics and fibers. Hybrid machines combine hardware, software, and sensors to create powerful mini factories.

This year's event features a number of exciting speakers from across MIT's innovation ecosystem including the Engine (a new startup accelerator built by MIT), Sandbox (MIT's innovation fund), and STEX25 (a startup accelerator focused on facilitating corporate partnerships). Several prominent MIT faculty founders including Alex “Sandy” Pentland, Alex Slocum, and Timothy Lu will also speak. In addition, the event will feature speakers from two of the most prominent MIT-connected startups, Buzzfeed and Dropbox as well as several industry speakers from Bose, Magna, Proctor & Gamble, and Whirlpool.

Join MIT’s hottest startups, newest entrepreneurship efforts (Sandbox, The Engine, STEX25), and leading technology thinkers on May 3, 2017 to explore new innovations in machines.

Batteries and Beyond: Energy Storage Innovation

Energy storage innovation, both at micro and grid scale, is on the cusp of several major breakthroughs which are already impacting consumer electronics and autonomous transportation. What are some emerging energy storage technologies? What adjacent technologies are moving pieces in this game (IoT, cloud, EVs, utilities, distributed generation, transportation networks, mobility tech, sensors etc.) How can existing infrastructure evolve to enable making the most of such breakthroughs?

MIT Startup Exchange (STEX) is convening a workshop on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. to discuss the latest advances in energy storage innovation from the perspective of the corporates, academics, VCs, and startups in the MIT ecosystem.
