˙Research Status
Throughout the years of our research and development, National United University has encouraged academics in their enthusiasm to explore and incorporate any possible fruits of their R&D into other research areas. The University has expected that, through this mutually beneficial incorporation of ideas, it can integrate and unite all of our resources and greatly advance our research and development capacities. Currently, there are 53 Research Groups. (Table 1)

Table 3 shows the total number of theses published by our university academic staff and students. The results of the 2004 University General Assessment and Scholastic Evaluations for Newly Established National Universities showed that the number of published theses has been growing at a stable rate since 2002. It implies that NUU has established good foundations of teaching resource and research development.

In addition to an enormous number of published theses, the professors and students have achieved great results in the Innovation Exhibition hosted separately in Switzerland , Germany and Singapore in the past few years. They have established a good relationship with the industry and the opportunity to commercialize their research products.
˙Current Status of Industrial Liaison
The University is actively seeking new contacts with and coordinating efforts with local industries to provide advice on enterprise management and technological development. The Innovation and Incubation Center and Office of Industrial Liaison are responsible for providing analytical services and training programs to strengthen the local industries' capabilities. Their primary focus is on assisting small and medium sized companies in starting and managing their businesses, and at the same time, conducting research and development. Under special agreements made between the university and these companies, these companies are able to temporarily locate a division on campus to enhance the accessibility of information on research, management and training.

˙International Academic Exchange
The university hopes to cooperate substantially with oversea universities and research centers in every way for the mutual benefits to be derived from improving Academic Research. Two methods are currently being undertaken by the university to improve academic research. Firstly, cooperate with those universities that are already in mutual relationship with our university, by means of such ways as professor-to-professor or faculty-to-faculty cooperation on Academic Research. Secondly, establish global learning systems based on the utilization of the abundance of teaching and research resources. The university is striving to establish an international campus so as to increase international academic exchange and cooperation.
˙Future Prospects
To improve research and industrial liaison, the strategies employed include simplifying the organizational system, eliminating internal obstacles to communication, increasing professors' and students' interest and enthusiasm for learning, and creating an unlimited environment for research. It is hoped that the university will live to the connotations of its name through intelligent research and cooperation with local industries and government institutions
