Enhanced Sustainability Impact: National United University Shines Across Multiple Sustainable Development Goals
Actively responding to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), National United University (NUU) has achieved remarkable results in the newly released 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.
Among them, SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals ranked among the global top 201–300, demonstrating the university's long-term success in deepening cross-disciplinary collaboration and international linkages. Furthermore, its overall sustainability impact has risen into the global top 1,000 universities, reflecting international recognition of the university's ongoing efforts in sustainable governance, talent cultivation, research innovation, and social practice.
In addition to its stellar performance in SDG 17, National United University achieved exceptional results across several other SDGs. SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation ranked in the global top 201–300; SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth both placed in the global top 301–400; and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities ranked in the global top 401–600. These achievements fully showcase the university's continuous commitment to environmental sustainability, energy transition, social responsibility, and equity and inclusion, actively addressing critical global sustainability issues through teaching, research, and service.
In recent years, National United University has consistently integrated the philosophy of the SDGs into its institutional governance. Through diverse strategies such as interdisciplinary research, signature courses, industry-academia collaboration, and local revitalization, the university actively promotes sustainable campus development while strengthening partnerships with governments, enterprises, non-profit organizations, and international partners to jointly create sustainable outcomes with both educational value and social impact.
Faced with global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, social inequality, and food security, universities serve not only as vital bases for knowledge and talent cultivation but also shoulder the crucial mission of leading social innovation and sustainable transformation. Moving forward, National United University will continue to integrate its internal research and teaching capacities, deepen domestic and international cooperation networks, and thoroughly embed sustainability principles into institutional governance, curriculum design, and local practice. By responding to global challenges with greater resilience, innovation, and impact, NUU aims to contribute even more to the sustainable development of Taiwan and the international community.
